Esta es una idea ecológica y divertida para decorar tu hogar en alguna celebración especial, o simplemente para refrescar y dar aroma a los espacios de tu casa. Las velas hechas con cáscara de frutas cítricas son fáciles de hacer, saludables y amigables con el medio ambiente. Si haces jugo de naranja, pomelo o limonada ¡no botes la cáscara! Reutilízala con este paso a paso:
Necesitarás:
- La cáscara de una fruta cítrica (en este caso utilizaremos una naranja)
- 1 taza de aceite de oliva
- 1 caja de cerillas
- Manteca vegetal.
Instrucciones:
– Corta la naranja a la mitad y separa cuidadosamente los tajos de la naranja sin afectar la cáscara. Debería quedar cóncava y con el tallo intacto al centro.
– Es importante dejar el tallo sin cortar, porque estar será tu “mecha”natural. Añade un poco de manteca vegetal (o en su defecto kerosene) para que arda por largo rato.
– Añade aceite de oliva a la cáscara de naranja.
(Opcional) Para aumentar los olores puedes agregar al aceite de oliva esencias cítricas, aromas u otros aceites de tu preferencia.
Estas velas rústicas tienen un sutil aroma cítrico, y son una excelente solución cuando se va la luz de manera inesperada. ¡Inténtala!
Make an orange candle!
This is an eco and fun idea to decorate your home in any special or just to refresh and give flavor to the spaces of your home celebration. Candles made with citrus fruits peel are easy to make, healthy and eco friendly. If you make orange juice, grapefruit or lemonade, don’t throw the skin away! Reuse them, follow these steps:
You’ll need:
- The skin of a citrus fruit (in this case we use an orange)
- 1 cup olive oil
- 1 box of matches
- vegetable fat
Instructions:
- Cut the orange in half and carefully separate the orange without affecting the orange peel. It should be concave and the center with the stem intact.
- It’s important to leave the with the stem uncut, because this will be your natural “fuse”. Add a little vegetable shortening (or failing kerosene) to be burned for a long time.
- Add olive oil to orange peel.
(Optional) To increase the smells you can add olive oil citrus essences, aromas or other oils of your choice.
