¡Disfruta!

How to make homemade oat milk

Oat milk is perfect for lowering cholesterol, besides being an excellent source of essential nutrients. You can add almonds to this recipe, making it richer in healthy fats and proteins.

You drink this milk alone or use it in shakes and smoothies. For those who prefer a cheaper option of vegetable milk, oat milk is one of the best options.

Here’s the recipe:

  • 1 cup of plain uncooked oatmeal (not instant)
  • 3-4 cups of water **
  • Ground cinnamon
  • Vanilla
  • Honey or stevia to taste
  • (optional) 12 full almonds

** The amount of water depends on the consistency you want in the milk you’re going to prepare

Preparation:

  1. Leave soaking the oats and almonds (if added) separately with enough filtered water overnight
  2. Drain the next day and put both ingredients in blender. Add the amount of water according to the consistency you want. Then add cinnamon, vanilla and sweetener.
  3. Blend on high speed, then strain the mixture through a fine sieve (you can use coffee strainers)
  4. Store in glass jars for 2 days maximum.

All in all, I love vegetable milks, because they offer a different option for those who can’t consume lactose.

Enjoy!
