LEER EN ESPAÑOL

Sciatica refers to pain, weakness, numbness, or tingling in the leg. It is caused by injury to or pressure on the sciatic nerve. Sciatica is a symptom of another medical problem, not a medical condition on its own.

5 Amazing remedies for sciatica pain

1. Cold / Heat

A cold pack can reduce any swelling and numbness associated with sciatic nerve pain or pain in the muscle tissue, relieving some of the pain associated with it, but should only be used when the pain is intense. Heat will increase the flow of oxygen and nutrients reaching the specified area, and generally is used only when the intense pain diminishes. Alternate both is what gives the best results.

2. Acupressure

Another sciatica treatment that some people find effective is to apply a little pressure with a ball or a hard object for about two minutes in the area of what is known as trigger points.

3. Pillow

This treatment for sciatica is commonly used and is useful also to relieve common back pain. It consists of placing a pillow under the knees when lying-that helps relieve the pressure that the disc is exerting on the sciatic nerve, thus reducing pain.

4. Hot Bath or Hydrotherapy

Taking a hot bath relieves muscle pain and relaxes the body. To soak 20 minutes to 2 hours helps reduce pain caused by the sciatic nerve.

5. Acupuncture

This ancient Chinese method of pain treatment has gained popularity among people suffering from sciatica and is very effective. It is believed that acupuncture called external pathogens dispersed activating the Qi energy, which helps ease the pain. It must be done by professionals.
