It’s time to abandon this urban legend, so today I reveal the truth. To lose weight you must burn more calories than you consume. Doing 100 abs a day can get you to have those defined abs of your dreams, but the truth is that if you devote yourself to only do abs, you won’t lose weight, you should do it with a proper diet and exercise.
I mean, one pound equals 3,500 calories. To lose a pound a week, you should eliminate 500 calories per day through diet, exercise or both. A person who does five minutes of abs workout will only burn 33 calories. In one week, that’s only 231 calories, which is not half of what the daily calorie burning should be.

If weight loss is your goal, consider changing your activity level. Exercising 30 minutes on most days of the week will produce a burning extra calories and a higher chance of weight loss.
Eating several small meals a day, increases your metabolism. Fill your diet with protein, fiber and healthy fats will help you stay satiated. If you’re burning 300 calories with your exercise plan begins to look for ways to get rid of the extra 200 calories through your diet. It could be as simple as removing a soda, a handful of potato chips, or that extra layer of butter spread on toast.
