Forget about fears, Get upside down!

Have a cup of coffee in the morning, look at the Ávila daily, eating a piece of chocolate and … doing a headstand. These are undoubtedly some of the most delicious things in life. And yes, the latter is preferred for those of you who like to see the world upside down.

The headstand or sirsasana is just one of the different practices that exist in yoga. Many people are terrified just by seeing it, maybe that’s why they don’t even try to do it. The truth is that being with the head on the ground gives us a new perspective on life.

Getting upside down is not only fun and rewarding: it’s healthy, and provides many benefits for our body. Any type of inversion allows the brain to oxygenate and improves our concentration; work confidence, care, and favors our memory.

Having our head downwards and the feet up is great for our cardiovascular system. It also helps decongest the veins of the legs which is great to prevent the terrible varicose veins. This type of posture strengthens our neck muscles, back, shoulders and abdomen. In addition, inversions are beneficial to the endocrine system because all glands that conform it recharge when you practice them.

Whether on your hands or doing a “candle”, whenever we invert we can feel how our head is filled with blood that is wonderful and very relaxing. Once you get any of these asanas you will not want to stop doing them.
