Is your closet boring you? Do you always feel like you have nothing to wear?

Then, it’s probably time for a wardrobe refresh. Every year or two, it’s a good idea to go revamp your items. Clean out the old things, replace the staple items that are worn down or damaged, and purchase a couple of quality pieces to elevate your look.

1. Replace Those Old Bras and Underwear

Start with a good foundation. Bras and underwear are supposed to be replaced every 9 months to a year. But let’s be real, your go-to bra is probably on year five or maybe even year ten. Just like all our clothes, the fabric on bras and underwear breaks down over time.

The undergarments you wear have an effect on how your clothes look and feel. If your clothes aren’t looking as good as they used to, it may be time to replace your undergarments.

Comfort is key with undergarments, but that doesn’t mean style has to be compromised. Try out a supportive and beautiful lace bra and quality cotton underwear to start your wardrobe refresh off right.

2. Go Through Your Closet

A wardrobe refresh is not all about new items! There may be some classic items in the back of your closet that you haven’t worn in a long time. Now is the time to go through every single item of clothing you own. Sort your clothes into piles that you do not wear anymore, common items, and special items.

Donate or dispose of the clothes you no longer want, then focus your attention on the clothes you wish to keep. Pick out a couple of items that you haven’t worn recently and set a goal to wear them in the next month. This goal forces you to get creative and reimagine old pieces to give them a new life.

3. Staple Items Checklist

If your wardrobe doesn’t serve you well, and you constantly find yourself unable to find something to wear, you may be missing a few staple items. Staple items make your wardrobe be well-rounded and help you build outfits to utilize everything in your closet better.

A few staple items include:

  • Classic denim jean
  • White bottom down shirt
  • White T-shirt
  • Black tank top
  • Leather jacket or trench coat
  • Slim-Fit Blazer

Staple pieces like these will pair with items you already have to vastly expand your wardrobe.

4. Add Some Flair

The difference between you wearing a white T-shirt and jeans and that amazing paparazzi photo of a celebrity wearing the exact same thing is likely, accessories. The right jewelry, sunglasses, or handbag can completely refresh and elevate a look.

The key to buying accessories is quality over quantity and versatility. The key to wearing it is to be playful. The next time you get dressed, try it with some hoop earrings or a few layered necklaces and see how it changes the look.

5. Don’t Forget the Shoes

Beat-up shoes can be very distracting to a beautiful outfit.

Staple items in a wardrobe also apply to shoes. Every wardrobe needs a few staple shoes that go with everything. White sneakers, black boots, black flats or loafers, a nude pump, and classic sandals for the summer.

Wear It With Confidence

Regardless of how you choose to revive your closet, the most important part of your clothes is how they make you feel. Focus on items that make you feel strong and confident, things you are proud to wear. The best way to make your clothes look better is to wear them with your head held high and a smile.
