I have to tell you, I LOVE hummus and this recipe is my favorite to make when I have friends over. It is simple, vegetarian and absolutely delicious!
Whenever I don’t have enough time, I buy organic hummus in any supermarket, but I can assure you that after having prepared this recipe at home, you will realize that those that are already made aren’t that good.

The secret consist on how to prepare the chickpeas, because you need to remove the skin. How is it made? Wash the chickpeas on a strainer, tighten with your fingers to remove the skin. The pea will fall on the strainer with the rest of them. If you don’t have time you can put them all in water, then rub them with both hands and you will see how the skin will float on the water.
- 1 can of chickpeas, washed and peeled
- ½ lemon juice
- 1 minced garlic clove
- 2 o 3 spoons of tahini
- 3 spoons of olive oil
- 3 spoons of water (more if needed)
- ½ tablespoon of cumin
- Salt and pepper
- Smoked paprika (optional)
Put everything into a food processor mix it until it is soft. Add more water if necessary. If you want you can sprinkle some paprika and some olive oil before serving.
