I have family in Spain and Italy. One thing that always strikes me is seeing how each of them in the afternoon takes a nap. A privilege that ordinary Americans is vetoed.

A gift we can give ourselves, and we have taken away I say, for those who sit well, it depends on the duration, or I become the Incredible Hulk or the Sleeping Beauty.

How do you feel after a nap?. I want to share the benefits it brings to the body.

Take naps, believe it or not, it is important to improve productivity. In fact, these short breaks day, have already been implemented in the workflow of some companies in different parts of the world.

Several recent studies show that naps improve our attention, creativity, humor, and productivity in the afternoon.

A nap of 60 minutes improves our attention for 10 hours. Pilot studies show that a nap “NASA” on the plane (while the plane is flown by the copilot) enhanced performance by 34% and 54% attention.

A Harvard study last year showed that a 45-minute nap improves learning and memory. The nap reduces stress and the risk of a heart attack, diabetes, and obesity.

For how long to rest?

2. Naps of 45 minutes may also include REM (Rapid Eye Movement), which enhances creative thinking and improves sensory processing.

3. Limit the nap to 45 minutes or less, if you need to jump into action just finished it.
If it lasts longer, we can go to sleep “heavy” – Getting out of this stage of sleep causes disorientation and a feeling of heaviness, but otherwise …

4. 90 to 120 minute nap include all stages of sleep – help to clarify the mind, improve memory, and recover lost sleep.
